Update: New Year's Resolutions

Update on My New Year's Resolutions:

  • Read a book every month- I did this last year and really enjoyed it.

So far I read, Cross Fire by James Patterson in January and Febuary's book was Drop Shot by Harlan Coben. Both were excellent books! I just started Bait by Karen Robard for March.

  • Run a half marathon-This is big for me because I've been running for years and have never been in a marathon. Just Fun Runs. lol

This is going to take a lot of work. I aim to do the Tulsa Run's half marathon in October. So, far I have done one 5k and am signed up to run one more on March 26. Then, I'll aim to do a 10k and move up from there... I'm just proud I've officially ran my 5k.

  • Learn to Stay in Shape- I worded it this way because I've lost 10lbs and still have another 10lbs to go, but this isn't about that... This is about learning healthy habits and making it a lifestyle not a short lived diet.

I'm awful at this. I so badly want to feel comfortable in my own skin again, but with working 2 jobs and one being a coffee shop with thousands of unhealthy creation to get my chubby little fingers around, it's hard... I gave up all sweets for Lent. It started yesterday and ends Palm Sunday. I know I'm giving them up more for myself than anything. Can you blame me? I grew up Baptist and Lent doesn't have as strong effect on my spiritual walk as it has on many others... Also, Saturday is 11 weeks from my wedding. If I got serious and worked really hard at losing a lb. per week I would be at my goal weight.

How are you doing with your New Year's Resolutions?

  1. Wow, I am seriously impressed! I doubt that anyone else is thinking to check in on how their resolutions are going. I totally get the temptations with bad food and easy options. Believe it or not, I go to Starbucks for healthy options! You would be so surprised. It can be more expensive... but with grilled chicken and hummus, and healthy snacks of fruit and high protein, you can't really go wrong.

Hope you have a wonderful week! Best of luck on your goals.
