Divorce

Hello!

I come to you as a recently married woman who needs to vent about divorce.

So... Hi, my name is Kris. I love my husband. He will always be the love of my life and he will be the man I am still married to when I DIE. So, please stop asking "is this your first marriage" or telling me things like "I was excited when I married my first husband, too", "the first {marriage} is the most frustrating, but it gets easier each time" or the most common, before Coy and I got married "DON'T DO IT!"... Wow, really? I realize divorce is getting really popular but what happened to getting divorced for legitimate reasons like "My husband likes other men" or "My wife beats me with a bat, if I don't clean the house". Not for fun.. The other day, I read a story about rocker Jack White and his (soon-to-be ex) model wife Karen Elson, who threw a party to announce their amicable divorce. After a marriage that lasted six years, the couple has publicly called it quits. I don't think I'm overreacting when I say that this is becoming quite the trend. After all, I read another story about this same phenomenon just a week ago in The New York Times. Hmmm. I'm giving this one some serious side eye...and here's why: So many people marry for childish, narcissistic reasons (think: big party where I, in my Miracle-Whip-parade-float-of-a-gown, will be the focus of attention). So it only follows that divorce parties, which speak to that same instinct, will catch on like wildfire. Then, other people look at me and other woman who truly want a strong marriage and says things like "Marriage is just too hard". Ya think? From Day one, you have think about another person when you do anything, make any decision. This same someone is the the one who knows how to irritate you. So.. if you aren't willing to make a marriage work from the beginning then don't do it because you are making marriage look bad.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I know there are lots of people who divorce for legitimate reasons, but so many divorces are ended over silliness, too. Please give me your thoughts.

I'm sorry that I've been such an awful blogger lately. I've rarely been updating and when I do it so short that you feel jipped. I understand that I'm sucking at life right now and today will not be much better... I just don't have the urge to write right now. I'm trying to take up more hours at both my jobs, the wedding is right around the corner and I'm starting to feel a little anxiety creeping over me.
  • I have a run this upcoming weekend (Pray I don't come in last)
  • The following weekend Coy and I are doing our engagement pictures (FINALLY) and my Aunt is throwing me a wedding shower!
  • We got Coy's suit. We decided to buy a suit over a renting a tux because I said so..
  • We also chose our night before the wedding dinner, which is replacing a rehearsal dinner, since there isn't a rehearsal. We chose diego's, it's a mexican restuarnt in MGM that we are absolutely in love with.
  • Also, today my mom and I began the final decisions for the reception.
  • 2months from Monday I'm going to marry the man of my dreams. It seems unreal.

Hopefully more posts next week. Sorry, guys!

Update: New Year's Resolutions

Update on My New Year's Resolutions:

  • Read a book every month- I did this last year and really enjoyed it.

So far I read, Cross Fire by James Patterson in January and Febuary's book was Drop Shot by Harlan Coben. Both were excellent books! I just started Bait by Karen Robard for March.

  • Run a half marathon-This is big for me because I've been running for years and have never been in a marathon. Just Fun Runs. lol

This is going to take a lot of work. I aim to do the Tulsa Run's half marathon in October. So, far I have done one 5k and am signed up to run one more on March 26. Then, I'll aim to do a 10k and move up from there... I'm just proud I've officially ran my 5k.

  • Learn to Stay in Shape- I worded it this way because I've lost 10lbs and still have another 10lbs to go, but this isn't about that... This is about learning healthy habits and making it a lifestyle not a short lived diet.

I'm awful at this. I so badly want to feel comfortable in my own skin again, but with working 2 jobs and one being a coffee shop with thousands of unhealthy creation to get my chubby little fingers around, it's hard... I gave up all sweets for Lent. It started yesterday and ends Palm Sunday. I know I'm giving them up more for myself than anything. Can you blame me? I grew up Baptist and Lent doesn't have as strong effect on my spiritual walk as it has on many others... Also, Saturday is 11 weeks from my wedding. If I got serious and worked really hard at losing a lb. per week I would be at my goal weight.

How are you doing with your New Year's Resolutions?

Getting to Know Me..

Hello Readers,

I've recently noticed that I have several new readers and I thought I would blog today about "Getting to Know Me"... I am an opinionated 23 year old named Kris. I work in the morning as a receptionist/Face of the Family Company/whatever they tell me to do girl and at night I am a Starbucks Shift Supervisor and everything it entitles. I'm also a doggy mom to a border collie, named Kuhmo (Kuhmie, I like to call him) and a Rottweiler Shepherd mix named Rocky. Most importantly, I'm the fiance of the greatest guy on earth, who is named Coy. Coy and I are getting married 3 months from TODAY at The MGM in Vegas, NV... I hope to go back to school in August of this year to be an Elementary School teacher and I'd like to have 2, maybe 3 children before I turn 30 (I have a lot to do in 7 years)... I started this blog because I was the girlfriend of a Med Student and every other blogger I found that could semi-relate to me, were married to a StuDoc (Student Doctor) or a Doctor and I felt that I could be of assistants to a newer crowd of people. So, here I am! I tend to talk more about myself then him though, but am always willing to answer questions about Med School... I am also a runner trying to accomplish more than a 5k and on top of that, trying to accomplish "The Body of My Dreams". BUT it's harder than it seems.
So, I hope all you new and old readers love what I have to share... Happy Reading!
-Kris-

Honeymoon and Weight loss

I realize Coy and I have another 3months and 6days till my wedding but I am just so excited! So, I thought we should talk about my honeymoon. We are leaving on a Monday and coming back the following Sunday... "Why Monday, if you are getting married on a Saturday?" you might ask.. Because we are not flying back home from Vegas until Sunday night. "Well, why not fly out from Vegas? Instead of flying home first?". Our trip is a round trip so flying out from home is cheaper.... And now some pictures.

I'm so freakin' excited!... But I really need to get bathing suit ready. I haven't been tracking my points for Weight Watchers and every time I start back I'll track my breakfast, but will forget to track anything else. Also, I've only been working out 3xs a week the past few weeks, even if I have time I'm normally too lazy. Example, I got off at 6 o'clock last night but instead of getting my workout on, I laid in bed after dinner and played games on my phone and read a little bit. So, last night before I caught some shut eye I set my alarm so I could workout this morning and instead, this morning, I turned it off and slept another hour and a half. I suck at life.
I was doing so good. I lost 8lbs and then gained 5 lbs. Where is my motivation? Someone help me!

Random Wednesday

Greetings Readers,
It's Random Wednesday, so here are the random things happening to me in my and Coy's life.
  • I am doing a 5k this weekend!
  • I had an amazing Valentine's with Coy. We saw "Gneomo and Juliet" it was adorable. Then, we went to eat at a steak place called "Blue Stone", where I recieved a single red rose.
  • I have been fighting something off (cold-wise) since last Friday and this morning StuDoc Coy told me to start taking Sudafed D, which is making me feel nauseated.
  • I hate being sick.
  • I'm ready to go back to school but I know it won't happen, because it's just bad timing.
  • I want to be a teacher... I've been thinking about it for awhile and it's really where I feel I should be.

Now for my recent Google searches:

  1. "Owl Tattoos"- because I really want another tattoo... I have 2 so far, but I really want an owl on the top of my left foot... My mom would be so disappointed in me and so would my future children. lol
  2. "Recipes for snow ice cream"- We got a ton of snow 2 weeks ago and we decided to attempt snow ice cream. I loved it, but Coy not so much.
  3. "How to have a good work review"- because well I didn't want to have a bad one.
  4. "Ridge Grill"-because there is a restuarant by this name on my way to work and I really want to try it... BUT they aren't open yet.

Well, thank you for reading.

My Fairytale. My Valentine.

Once upon a time… a girl said yes to a date with a boy. They had an amazing first date that started with dinner, then coffee and the conversations just went on for hours. That date turned into dates, which turned into days then weeks which turned into months and the next thing they knew love had crept up on them. Then one Thursday night after a long day at work, she came home to her boyfriend in a panic saying there was an emergency at her Grandparent’s house and they had to get over there as soon as they could... But as they arrived she realized there wasn’t an emergency at all. Instead she saw rose pedals leading to candles, flowers and champagne. That's when he got on one knee and asked her to marry him... 6 months ago I told Coy I would become his wife. It wasn't long before we had set a date and after 6 months of waiting, we only have 3.5 months left before we are getting married! He is the best Valentine I have ever had. I am so glad he is in my life.

I'm back! Did you miss me?... I'm sorry I've taken such a long break, but hopefully I can get myself back on track. I've decided since I've been gone so long I will just use today to catch everyone up on my life, my thoughts and whatever else I feel like sharing. It's kind of like a belated Random Wednesday.
  • I was snowed in all last week... Coy and I spent a lot of time together. We caught up on our shows, watched a ton of movies, I became obsessed with Sims 3 and I read quite a bit.
  • Even though I was snowed in I still only managed to workout 2 days... 3days if you count snow shoveling as a workout... I'm ashamed!
  • I've also only worked out 2xs this week, too... I'm so lazy, I know.
  • BUT I told myself this morning, that since it's supposed to be getting warmer in the next week I WILL be working out at least 5xs. I'll let you know if I actually do.
  • My newest obsession is Vanilla Diet Dr. Peppers. It's awful because I never drink pop because it makes me "up chuck", to be honest. It's a bad obsession, which bring me to my next subject.
  • Now, for my rant of the week: I saw Lady GaGa's interview in Vogue and was really.. I don't even have words for my shock... She said that she feels she is one of the best artists of her time, that she has an amazing voice and ya-da-de ya-da-de... She is a great performer, because she is weird and people like it. BUT she is NOT one of the best "artists" of her time. I was mainly just irritated because she was actually telling someone this... AND the biggest load of crap she said was that she was the best songwriter of her time... "You know that I love you boy. Hot like Mexico. Rejoice.". Wow! Lady Gaga, what poetry?!.. Or what about "I want your Psycho, Your vertigo stick, while your admiring, your baby is sick". Lady GaGa, thank you for those inspiring words. WHAT? NO!... Like I said she puts on one crazy show, but I'm sorry she is not as great as she seems to thing she is.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and please feel free to comment about Lady GaGa's interview.

A day in the life...

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile. Life is just getting overwelming busy, but I did manage to sneak in a few pictures of my fur babies.

A day in the life of Rocky through pictures...

He and Kuhmo start thier morning by attempting to baracade the bathroom, so I can't leave but begin to get tired and fall asleep...

Then, they may play for awhile (Kuhmo won this one).

Then, Rocky gets tired and fights sleep.

But sleep always wins and then he gets mad when I wake him. lol

They are such good dogs.

Sorry I don't have more to share. I just have an entire list of things to do. I will try and get back on and write before the weekend.
